Biography
Zhidong Zhang completed his PhD from Institute of Metal Research (IMR), Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1989. He is the head of magnetism and magnetic materials division of IMR. His research interests are focused on permanent magnetic materials, nanocomposited magnetic materials, electromagnetic and transport properties of low-dimensional materials. He has been working also on topological spin configurations and their contributions to physical properties of materials. He has published more than 300 papers in reputed journals, He serves on Editorial Boards of the Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter (2000-2003), Scientific World Journal, Acta Metallurgica Sinica, and Program Committee for international conferences such as ICM, MMM and IEEE InterMag.

Rare – earth - transition - metal compounds. Magnetic thin films, multilayers, quantum wells, quantum dots. Magnetic nanoparticles and nanocapsules. Permanent magnets. Giant magnetoresistance materials. Giant magnetostrictive materials. Magnetocaloric materials. 3D Ising model; Critical phenomena.
